Chengdu Universiade Village
Yesterday morning, the blowing whistles of the construction machines announced the official beginning of the construction of the Chengdu 2021 Summer Universiade Village (hereinafter referred to as "Universiade Village") at Chengdu University.
According to the reporters from Red Star News of Chengdu Economic Daily, the new Universiade Village project is composed of a Life Service Center, a Medical Center, an Administration and Security Center, an International Education Exchange Center and other facilities and venues. Also the new campus of College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts will be constructed. The total construction area is 373, 880 m².
Two years later, athletes from all over the world will fly their dreams and make friends here. During the Universiade, the Village will be used for competitions. Afterwards, it will serve as teaching facilities.
"The university fully agrees with the planning and design philosophy of 'Openness, Integration, Green, and Wisdom’ and focusing on cultural integration and intensive sharing. In the preparation phase, we've already assisted Chengdu Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government in completing the Universiade Village proposal and relevant construction and renovation program compilation." Wang Qingyuan, President of Chengdu University, said that the Universiade Village renovation project had entered the actual implementation phase yesterday. He also said that Chengdu University would spare no effort in building the Village, combine the construction of the Village with long-term development of the university, and advance all the construction and renovation projects in a coordinated fashion.
According to the reporter, in addition to renovating existing dormitories, dining halls, and sports facilities, new projects will be constructed for the Village including a Life Service Center, a Medical Center, an Administration and Security Center, an International Education Exchange Center and the new campus of College of Chinese & ASEAN Arts, with a total area of 373,880 m². During the Universiade, the Village will be used for competitions. Afterwards, it will serve as teaching facilities. There are five areas: Accommodation Area, International Area, Operation Area, Transportation Area, and Competition and Training Area.
Specifically, the Accommodation Area will provide accommodation, catering and other services to more than 11,000 people for delegations representing over 170 countries and regions. The Operation Area will provide delegation registration and reception services and is responsible for the operation and management of the Village. The International Area will provide medical care, consultation, conference, leisure, business and other services to delegations. In addition to providing competition-related services, the Competition and Training Area will also provide restorative physical training and sports entertainment for athletes.
According to Wang, the university will plan and organize a variety of colorful Universiade Village cultural exchange activities in advance to spread the spirit of Universiade. Volunteers will also be selected ahead of time, and campus culture will be enhanced. From the launching ceremony, it is clear that hosting Chengdu 2021 Summer Universiade is a positive practice of Chengdu to build an International Cultural City and International Competition City and increase its international competitiveness and influence. This event will further strengthen city functions, improve sports and health qualities, increase cultural qualities, facilitate socio-economic development and enhance reputation and international fame.

Professional sports event planning teams will be hired to study, analyze and arrange the project, making it a high-level project that shows Chengdu's image and charm to the world.
In addition, Longquanyi District will promote the comprehensive improvement and upgrading of the area. The improvement and upgrade plan around the Village has been tentatively compiled to implement the transformation and upgrading of the area. The area will hold itself against international standards to accelerate and upgrade the plan and design of Shiling area and design of key urban nodes, further clarify and optimize the urban image and architectural features, and form guidelines for transformation and upgrading. It will also implement the planning and construction of artery road network, bus terminals and special parking lots in the area to enhance accessibility of urban roads. The project also involves planning and construction of ASEAN art towns, accelerating the arrangement of star hotels and other major business service projects, actively cultivating new international consumption scenarios, and promoting the overall optimization and upgrading of regional consumption patterns.
Dong’an Lake Sports Center
According to previous plans regarding Dong’an Lake (the former Crown Lake), Dong’an Lake Sports Center is located in the north of Dong’an Lake Sports and Healthy Life New City, on the east-west city axis, and to the south of Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway and east of Qichecheng Avenue. It is one of the major public service facility projects of this area.
The Center occupies 0.452 km²

According to plan, the gymnasium, the natatorium, and the exhibition hall started construction in October 2018, and will be put into use by the end of July 2020. The stadium started construction in January 2019 and is planned to be put into use by the end of February 2021.
The project adheres to the idea of "unified construction, overall development, industries introduction and professional operation" and adopts the mode of "specialized operation of public facilities + agent management".
CR Land has constructed and operated the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, which integrates a seascape stadium with a capacity of 20,000 people, a gymnasium of 13,000 people, an international standard natatorium, star hotels, public fitness facilities and children-themed businesses.
As the Universiade is to be held in Chengdu,
