On August 6th, themed "Youth Is the Future – Chengdu & Guangzhou, Together for the Games", the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Summer Brand Promotion Press Conference (Guangzhou Stop) was launched at the Canton Tower, the landmark of Guangzhou, following the last two in Beijing and Shanghai. During the event, Hanyi, the vice president of the Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Summer, gave an introduction to Chengdu and the World University Games, warmly inviting world enterprises and people to enjoy the event together.
The Games signs contracts with new sponsors, bringing the WUG vibe to Guangzhou
As the widely anticipated part of the activity, the signing ceremony between the Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Summer and several leading companies, including RUIFENG Tech. , ACT Sports, ADASPACE, and Seven Continents Lights(SCL) was held successfully. These companies will provide professional services for the Games, such as high-quality lighting effects, seating, sports lighting, and space technology to further improve the standards of the Games and present an impressive event to the world.
This is the first world-class comprehensive sports event to take place in Chengdu and western China. It's expected that the Games will attract over 10,000 athletes and officials from more than 170 countries and regions to the city, with wide influence over about 3.1 billion young people around the world. Meanwhile, this grand sports event will also offer opportunities for global institutions and brands to exhibit, set up a platform for exchanges and collaborations, as well as boost the city's future development.
Chengdu-style performances and release of new satellite-themed badges add fun to the event
After the signing ceremony, various kinds of performance were presented at the site, enriching the content of the event. Chengdu pop singer Sury Su cooperated with the Zhigeng Indoor Chorus to song "In Chengdu"（"在成都"）, in a novel way with the singer at the site and the chorus in Chengdu City Music Hall. The song is full of typical Chengdu elements, such as Sichuan Opera and Du Fu Thatched Cottage, aiming to show the host city's warm hospitality. Another special collaboration combined martial arts with Sichuan opera, impressing the audience with the charm of face-changing and martial arts.
A new round of official licensed products, which include a limited version of the satellite-themed commemorative badge, was released in the way of a magic and catwalk show. The material and main colour (space grey) of the badges are designed to represent AI satellite that was named after the Games, to celebrate the cooperation between its sponsor ADASPACE and the Games.
The roundtable forum triggers heated discussions, concise experience of the Shenzhen 2011 Summer Universiade shared by a former organizer
The last but also a crucial part of the event was the roundtable forum that involves an Olympic champion, some sports marketers, and some famous entrepreneurs. Specialists from different fields shared brilliant ideas on how World University Games could benefit the hosting city and partner enterprises.
Xu Da, the former minister of General Planning Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and an expert consultant for the Games, said the preparation for the Games should be combined with the development of the city, thus to fully boost its future development.
Another expert consultant, Ke Gangming, who was also a leader in the executive committee of the Shenzhen 2011 Summer Universiade, also shared his valuable experience with the audience. He summarized, the preparation of the Games should be "led by the government, guided by the market, conducted economically and participated by mass population". He also expressed good wishes to Chengdu for holding a successful World University Games.
Zhang Jiewen, the Olympic Champion of Women's Doubles of Badminton Events at Athens Olympic Games, also joined the discussion. According to her, the World University Games attracts numerous young athletes, vividly representing the latest development of youth sports around the world. She also thinks the World University Games is a precious chance for athletes because most athletes can only participate in the Games for once in a lifetime. She hopes all the athletes coming to the Games next year would achieve their best results, and leave unforgettable memories in Chengdu.
