Volunteers for 2021 FISU WUG Make Their First Appearance
On 23 April, the Tennis Qualification of the 14th National Games of the People's Republic of China, the first event of the series of sports events named Meet Happy Chengdu, officially opened. A total of 161 volunteers from universities and colleges in Chengdu gathered in Sichuan International Tennis Centre to volunteer at the first event.
Sichuan International Tennis Centre is also one of the venues for tennis competitions of the 2021 FISU WUG. Before the event, the Department of Volunteers of the Executive Committee of the 2021 FISU WUG conducted special training for volunteers on general skills, civilized etiquette, and emergency response. All volunteers were also organised to visit the competition venue in advance and learned their job responsibilities and work procedures in order to further improve volunteering skills.
The event will last for 15 days. During this period, volunteers will provide services including sign-in, maintaining order, guiding audience, information technology, and anti-doping testing to ensure the smooth progress of the event.
As the series of events go on, nearly 5,000 volunteers from the Sichuan University, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and other higher education institutions will participate in voluntary service. Accumulating hands-on experience through practice, the volunteers will provide high-standard services to make sure that safe, brilliant, and successful large-scale events are staged.
