Hello, I’m Robot Rongbao!

Chengdu 2021

Rongbao, the mascot of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, has received increasing public attention recently with the buying spree of the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 mascot Bing Dwen Dwen.

A cuddly robot Rongbao appeared at a symposium on AI application scenario supply for the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games held on Wednesday 9 March.

“Hello, I'm Rongbao, the mascot of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games...” The adorable robot Rongbao was greeting the symposium attendees. Translating for participants at the site and monitoring their temperature like a real medical worker, this little guy caught the eye of all attendees.

The design of the robot Rongbao, neatly integrating abstract art with high technology, is inspired by the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games mascot Rongbao and made by a German Red Dot Award-winning designer. The robot looks so lovable that people can’t help interacting with it. It will also respond to users when they touch the burning fire on its ears, showing the passion and vitality of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games.

At the site, the Culture, Innovation and Exhibition Bureau of Sichuan Tianfu New Area handed over the robot Rongbao to the Executive Committee of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games, followed by an introduction of preliminary achievements in product research as well as sharing of the design idea and development of the robot.

In addition, over 30 new economy enterprises work to combine technological innovation with the Games. The increasing demand for AI application for the Games will further unlock vast value of international sports events to upgrade products made by Chengdu, and create more opportunities for local sci-tech innovation enterprises to connect with such events as the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games.
