FISU-AIPS Young Reporters Programme — "It's Sports" Photo/Video Contest Information Released

The 31st summer edition of the World University Games will be staged in Chengdu, China from 18-29 August with a sport programme that includes 18 sports and 269 events. Chengdu, a beautiful city in western China, will be the third one in the Chinese mainland to host an edition of the WUG, following Beijing in 2001, and Shenzhen in 2011. Being the hometown of giant pandas, Chengdu is the capital of the Sichuan Province and is one of the largest central cities in western China. With more than 4,500 years of civilization, the city was among the first to be crowned a "Famous Historical and Cultural City" in China.

And benefit from listening to the lectures and finishing the assignments under the guidance of experienced mentors to increase your overall capability in media? Here's the chance for you — FISU-AIPS Young Reporters Programme. The educational programme of sports journalism, in its sixth edition, provides you with a valuable chance to get a hands-on experience of reporting an international multi-sport event. Now the Executive Committee of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games,  International University Sports Federation (FISU) and International Sports Press Association(AIPS) are sending an invitation to you together.

 

Chengdu — Hometown of Giant Pandas

 

The applications for 2021 FISU-AIPS Young Reporters Programme were open on October 18, 2020. The curriculum of the programme includes lectures from world-class media and communication professionals, mentorship from established sports journalists and field-based training with the FISU Media & Communication team. The selected candidates will be brought right into the middle of the Games, with full access to the competition venues and the Main Press Centre. The cost of travel, accommodation and meals will be borne by FISU and the Executive Committee. More information:

There are 40 young reporters to be selected, 20 international candidates, and 20 Chinese candidates. Of the 20 international candidates, 10 will be selected by International Sports Press Association (AIPS), 6 will be selected by FISU, and 4 will be selected by the Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 through "It's Sports" photo/video contest. Contest Schedule

 

 

-November 30, 2020

The information of the "It's Sports" photo/video contest is released on the official website of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

 

-December 30, 2020

The contest system will be opened on the official website of the Chengdu 2021 FISU WUG. Applicants can log in to the website to submit their photo/video entries and the entries will be submitted for voting.

 

-January 25, 2021

The contest voting system will be closed, and the Executive Committee of the Chengdu 2021, together with FISU and AIPS, will start the process of reviewing.

 

-February 18, 2021

The final results of the 4 candidates will be announced.

 

 

Requirements of Participants

 

 

1. Aged 19-25

 

2.Full-time or part-time students of journalism, public relations or communication,media, photography, film making, television broadcasting or related fields, having completed at least one year of university studies. Recent graduates working in entry-level positions in news and media, television broadcasting companies, film making, photography or other related industries are also strongly encouraged to apply for participation. Self-employed YouTubers or photographers are also welcomed.

 

3. Should be available for the duration of the programme for 16 days from 15-30 August 2021, which includes the entire schedule of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

 

4. Speak fluent English (if non-native) and can write in English.

 

 

Contest Information

 

 

1.Notes

 

(1). Applicants should guarantee the originality of their works. For video contest, the applicants should have the copy rights of all the materials used in the videos. If plagiarism or infringements of copyrights is found in the entries, the applicant shall be disqualified immediately, and the consequences shall be borne by him/herself.

 

(2). The applicant shall guarantee that the personal information uploaded is true. If there is any false report, the applicant shall be disqualified immediately.

 

(3). The information released is provisional, and the Executive Committee reserves the right of interpreting the contest.

-Photo contest

 

Use your camera to record the wonderful moments about sports. It may focus on some feelings like persistence or happiness relating to sports, or can be the sharing of doing sports. Welcome to share your insights, your stories, or stories of others; they can be athletes, or anybody who loves sports.

 

*Every applicant can submit up to 5 entry photos

-Video contest

 

Use video recording and editing to interpret your understanding of "sports"! There are no limits to the content of the videos, whether they are exciting clips of competitions, story-telling videos of student-athletes, or just daily sports vlogs and interesting sports videos…Everything you can think about sports is welcomed! Let's integrate sports in our daily life!

 

*Every applicant can submit up to 2 entry videos

 

* Special notes:

Video clip materials must be self-owned or copyrighted materials of the applicants. The Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games will not provide video materials. If there is a dispute due to the copyright issue of the materials, the applicant should bear the responsibilities him/herself.
