On November 22, the first offline training for the "foreign liaison officers" of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, the student volunteers who will provide language services for the Games, was held. About 320 students from 7 universities, including Sichuan University and Chengdu University, participated in this training.
Previously, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Liaison of the Executive Committee of Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games had already carried out a total of 12 online training sessions for the "foreign liaison officers", including different contents such as the introduction of the WUG, experience sharing on practical translation, English terminology for the WUG events, as well as knowledge about Chengdu culture, and international communication.
As the first offline training conducted in 2020, it invited professional instructors to deliver speeches mainly on regulations of related fields and some useful tips, all of which have a close connection with the job responsibilities of the "foreign liason officers".
In the next month, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Liaison will conduct further training courses and practical sessions regarding the conditions of the Games' venues as well as etiquette in receiving international guests.
Noteworthy, the young "foreign liaison officers" enjoyed the training quite a lot, especially the quiz session that engaged them very much and consolidated the knowledge they learned.
The students who participated in the training felt this was a quite fruitful experience for them. They expressed the willingness to utilize the useful knowledge they learned today in practical situations to better serve the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.
