Food and beverage services are important parts of the services of the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Summer, as well as an important guarantee for the success of the Games. On September 3rd, the conference which releases the food and beverage services master plan and the first-batch opportunities list of food and beverage services was launched.
The first-batch opportunities list of food and beverage services include 12 items in three categories of meat, aquatic products, and vegetables, which have long preparation time and high requirements of production, processing, and food-borne stimulants examination. The list mainly contains beef, mutton, pork, chicken, duck, fish, shrimp and vegetables. All vendors must have self-owned farms with halal certification (accredited by or registered at the local ethnic & religious authority in line with relevant policies and regulations) and be nationally qualified for farming and meat cutting/processing/packing. The categories supplied must meet the athletes' food-borne stimulant limits.
Safety is the primary requirement of food and beverage services. A relevant official of the Department of Market and Food Management emphasized the food-borne stimulant issues, claiming that they will ensure the safety of food supply in six aspects, which are optimising choices of large enterprises, signing responsibility contracts, monitoring feed sources, supervising key producing chains, inspecting food batch-by-batch and setting emergency response plans.
During the conference, the food and beverage master plan was also released. Seven specific work plans in different places were presented, including the staff and athletes restaurants of the FISU World University Games Village, training and competition venues, the main media centre and so on. In the future, another 3 batches of opportunities lists will be released, covering aspects of the supply chain, kitchen facilities, and professional food and beverage services for sports games and others.
