On the morning of 18th August, the forum of the Experts Advisory Committee for the Chengdu 2021 World University Games Summer was held at the International Conference Center of the Century City. A total of 21 experts from all over the country gathered together to offer their suggestions for the Games.
Dai Weiyong, former director of the Information Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and former head of the Technology Department of the Beijing Universiade Organizing Committee, commented that two key tasks for preparing for the Games are: holding a successful opening ceremony and building smart venues. "The Games is a comprehensive and worldwide one, which requires the application of the most advanced technologies, such as cloud computing, big data, the Internet and the Internet of Things. It is also necessary to establish a data center, a communication center, a command center and a press center and to integrate them into a comprehensive public service center", he said.
Liu Qingzao, a professor of Shanghai University of Sport, suggested that the next stage of preparation for Chengdu should still focus on venue construction but gradually transform to sports event operation. Full connection with FISU is a must to prefectrize all preparation work and display Chengdu culture to the world.
Meanwhile, other experts also commented that the preparations for the Games and the epidemic prevention of the COVID-19 are conducted very well so far. They also suggested that the slogan of the Games should further reflect the special content of the hard work Chengdu have conducted in COVID-19 epidemic prevention.
