The preparation work for the Chengdu2021 FISU WUG Summer is in full swing right now. The construction of venue projects, including the construction of 13 newly-built venues and the renovation of 36 existing ones, is speeding up with the approaching of the Games. Currently, the first renovated venue has completed its work ahead of schedule.
The venue is National Key Table Tennis Training School (Chengdu), which will be the training place during the Games.
At a bird's eye view of the this silver-coloured, four-story building, the exterior facade seems to shine with dazzling metal lustre.
The venue covers an area of 11,604 square meters, with a total floor area of 12,798.5 square meters. Besides the competition hall, it's also equipped with apartments for athletes and other auxiliary rooms.
The competition and training hall has four floors including one interlayer. The top three floors play as the multi-functional table tennis training hall, which has a clear height of 12 meters. It is equipped with 12 standard tables and 1,300 seats. The floor below has some auxiliary rooms.
The renovation focuses on fixing some problems, such as mending the different ageing facilities, as well as upgrading some supporting infrastructure like lighting and ventilation systems. After the completion of the project, the venue can not only meet the requirements for the table tennis training of the Games, but also serve as a competition and training facility in the long term.
