A 14-year-old boy shared his original video "Perfect Chengdu" on YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn to promote the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

Fang Jiacheng, who was born and raised in Chengdu, made the three-minute music video to sing a love song to his hometown and show iconic buildings and picturesque scenery of the city.

"This time, I sang a song dedicated to my hometown and my city. My grandparents were very happy, and my family and friends in Canada were also delighted and took the initiative to help me share the video on social media. More people knew about Chengdu and the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games, which made me very proud," Fang Jiacheng said.

Fang's father is Canadian and his mother is from Chengdu, China. So his grandparents considerately gave him the forename "Jiacheng" ("Jia" stands for Canada and "Cheng" for Chengdu in Chinese).

"I was studying in Chicago about a year ago," Fang Jiacheng said, "When I returned to my hometown, I found it amazing to see how Chengdu has changed again in such a short time. The city is more beautiful and life is more convenient and comfortable. I prefer to use 'she' to refer to my hometown. The more time you spend here, the more beauty you will see in 'her'. She is both as graceful as a beautiful girl and as accommodating as a loving mother, making you happy and relaxed."

"When I was in Chicago, I often went to Lake Michigan. After I returned to Chengdu, I passed by Xinglong Lake one day and a familiar feeling overwhelmed me. The trails, the greenways and the scenery here were so much like Lake Michigan that I was a bit confused for a while. The idea of making a music video so that more people around the world could see 'her' just came to my mind," he added.

Young as he is, Fang Jiacheng feels that it’s his responsibility to promote his hometown and the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games. Now he is learning traditional Chinese dance and hopes to make another music video of a traditional Chinese song to introduce Chengdu to the whole world.
