Road to Lucerne 2021: German Delegation Excited for Sport and Challenges That Await in Switzerland

Student-athletes from all over the world will get a chance to challenge their personal bests in just under a month at the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade.

That is one of the many aspects the Germany University Sports Federation (adh) Intern, Johanna Kreutzer, is looking forward to in Lucerne.

Johanna hasn't been to a Universiade before and can’t wait for her first to begin on December 11. "We know that this Universiade will be special and we are happy to have the opportunity to be part of it."

"I am very excited about the challenges and new tasks that await me there and I am especially looking forward to attending so many different sports that come together at one event."

A Master of International Sport Management student, Johanna has been responsible for the German delegation's registration and other administrative tasks for the Winter Universiade, including the organisation on-site.

Recently, she has been working on the Winter Universiade selection process which involved candidates registering, consultation with respective sports, board presentations and then sending invitation letters to all nominees.

It's a position that Johanna enjoys because of her passion for university sport.

"I really like the idea of bringing people from different studies and academic backgrounds together through sport," Johanna said.

"The opportunity to combine a high-performance sports career and university sports in general with the academic education creates a unique platform."

Starting in just under three weeks, all eyes will be on Central Switzerland for the Lucerne 2021 Winter Universiade, held from 11-21 December 2021.
